Just got back from a work trip in Memphis. I was actually suprised to see that the downtown part of Memphis was pretty clean for a metropolitan area. We ate at some good places and some not so good places. I guess from now on I wont put any merit on whether or not a place has won awards. Eating at the place that was the best local restaurant of 2005, one would think that you would get your pork chop COOKED. Luckily I only had one bite, and didnt get too sick, but that just ruins your night. The group of us did get down to Beale St., which is basically like Rush St. in Chicago for anyone that’s familiar w/ it. Bars as far as the eye can see, but the best part was all the blues music streaming out of them.
I was glad to be home though. We had BAD flights on the way there and back as far as being cramped in a tiny plane, too much turbulance, and BAD landings.
We also got to tour the FedEx worldwide headquarters and checkout their distribution center. I was amazed on how well everything went, considering there were four THOUSAND people all working at once. Planes landing every 90 seconds loaded w/ thousands of packages, totalling over 900,000 packages in just 3 hours, and a total of 1.5 MILLION packages on an average day. It’s unfortunate that you cant bring cameras in, since it would have been awesome to show how things ran. Damn you 9/11!
But after all the take-out meals, I’ve gotta admit it was nice to be at home. It’s weird being away from Jen, and I was glad to be back in my sleepy lil town. But with that also comes back to work
