Busy weekend

So I had hoped this would be a relaxing weekend w/ all the travel I’ve been doing over the past 2 weeks or so. Apparantly I was wrong.

Errands saturday, family party sunday, yardwork and golfing monday. Ah well, maybe this week we can relax? Yeah wrong. We have not 1, but two different graduations to go to. Fun fun.

I guess there will be time to sleep when I’m dead?

At least the grill got to make an appearance this weekend. It’s been too windy and wet recently, and it was nice to get a calm sunny day for once. Mmm, steak and potatoes!

Walkin’ in Memphis

Just got back from a work trip in Memphis. I was actually suprised to see that the downtown part of Memphis was pretty clean for a metropolitan area. We ate at some good places and some not so good places. I guess from now on I wont put any merit on whether or not a place has won awards. Eating at the place that was the best local restaurant of 2005, one would think that you would get your pork chop COOKED. Luckily I only had one bite, and didnt get too sick, but that just ruins your night. The group of us did get down to Beale St., which is basically like Rush St. in Chicago for anyone that’s familiar w/ it. Bars as far as the eye can see, but the best part was all the blues music streaming out of them.

I was glad to be home though. We had BAD flights on the way there and back as far as being cramped in a tiny plane, too much turbulance, and BAD landings.

We also got to tour the FedEx worldwide headquarters and checkout their distribution center. I was amazed on how well everything went, considering there were four THOUSAND people all working at once. Planes landing every 90 seconds loaded w/ thousands of packages, totalling over 900,000 packages in just 3 hours, and a total of 1.5 MILLION packages on an average day. It’s unfortunate that you cant bring cameras in, since it would have been awesome to show how things ran. Damn you 9/11!

But after all the take-out meals, I’ve gotta admit it was nice to be at home. It’s weird being away from Jen, and I was glad to be back in my sleepy lil town. But with that also comes back to work :-(

Vacation coming to an end :-/

So tomorrow is the last day of our vacation. Orlando has been AWESOME. Weather has been good, only rained hard one day, rest of the time we’d get a 5 min sprinkle and its over. We’ve done just about as much as two people can do here in a week. We managed to get to every Disney park, Universal Studios both parks, and 3 different outlet malls. We’ve also taken just about FULL advantage of the resorts amenities we’re staying at. Pool time, playing some games of pool, playing tennis, shooting some hoops….. I think the only thing we haven’t done is go to the resort owned restaurants.

Ah well, time to get all our stuff together to start getting ready to come home. That kinda sucks, but I think we’re ready. We’re both completely exhausted (as evident by Jen falling asleep at 7:00pm today, then again, I guess us taking FULL advantage of a restaurants Happy Hour didnt help that situation!

we’ve taken probably 100-150 pictures while here, and probably could have taken 300+ but we actually spent more time ENJOYING the moment than taking pictures of it.

By the way, if you’re ever down here looking for an awesome dinner, Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Resort is a must (thanks to Derek and Kevin for the suggestion, it RULED!)

Chillin’ at Disney

So today we went to animal kingdom, rode some cool rides, went on a safari, and got the pleasure of dealing with screaming kids that parents couldnt control!! but of course we made the BEST of it! then after a long day came back to the room…relaxed for a bit..then went and played some minature golf.  Then Mike and I got adventurous and went and played pool then some hoops!!

Post hoops, some tv, some drinks, now off to bed to get ready for Universal tomorrow. Weather reports are really annoying me. One says rain, the other not. Its getting hard to plan our days out.

Anyway, Jen & I are having a GREAT time. It’s really nice to get away, and hard to believe that we aren’t even half way through our 8 days yet.

Universal Orlando, here we come

Vacation Time!

Man its been SOOO long since Jen and I have gotten to take anything longer than a weekend trip. It’s been work work work, then some more work.

This week is all us though. We’re spending our vacation time for this year down in Orlando. So far the weather has been so-so. Yesterday we got stuck in a BIG-TIME thunderstorm and got soaked over at Disney-MGM, but we made the best of it by keep going on their indoor roller-coaster. We’d get off the coaster and just walk right back on. It ruled. I think the longest we waited for any attraction was 15 mins. Jen was AWESOME too. While all those other people we’re running for cover, Jen: screw it, lets keep going, its just rain!!!

Only thing though, w/ all the sun and walking around, we’re completely exhausted by like 9:00.

This morning we’re going to Disney Animal Kingdom. Supposed to be a really cool park, but the thing is they’re only open till 6:00, so we’ll have to make sure we know where we want to go as to not waste any time.

Sunny and 80 degrees. Sounds good to me. Well off to the parks we go!
